The Vishuddhi Chakra: It is situated in the throat region of the body. It is the energy centre of the throat. It symbolises the feeling of collectiveness and vocal powers.
The Agnya Chakra: It is the meditative centre of the body situated in between the eyes, often known as the location of the third-eye (vision of consciousness). It is the energy centre of the forehead. It symbolises forgiveness and sympathy.
The Sahasrara Chakra: This is the seventh and the highest chakra. It is situated at the crown of the head. It is the crown energy centre. It is the sign of integration.
According to Mataji Shri Nirmala Devi, apart from these seven energy chakras, there are three connecting cords, known as serpentines, ida, pingala and sushumna. It is through these cords that the energy lying dormant in the muladhara, travels towards the sahasrara chakra.

Sahaja Yoga Meditation Steps
Sahaja Yoga is the process of self-realisation and self-attainment through Kundalini awakening. As normal human beings Kundalini lies dormant in our subtle body. Only when you start provoking it to awaken, it rises from the Muladhara to the Crown Chakra.
There are certain steps to perform Sahaja Yoga and feel a cool breeze of relaxation and inner peace afterwards. A Sahaja Yogi should follow these steps and experience the divinity on his own.
- Sit in a comfortable position on a mat. Rest your palms on your knees. Take a deep breath and relax. Let your body adapt to the atmosphere.
- The Sahaja meditation teaches you to connect with your kundalini and awaken it. So, the first step of Sahaja Yoga is to keep your right hand on your heart, feel the heartbeat and ask your kundalini, ‘Mother, am I the spirit?’. Repeat this three times.
- Now, place your right hand near your left rib and provoke the kundalini again, ‘Mother, am I my own master?’ Ask this to your kundalini three times.
- Change the position of your right hand, move it lower just below your waist and gently press it there, say these words to your kundalini, ‘Mother, please give me the pure knowledge.’ Repeat these words for six times.
- Now, move your right hand towards your left ribs and press the area gently, talk to your kundalini and say, ‘Mother, I am my own master.’ Do this for ten times.
- Keep your right hand on your heart and repeat twelve times, ‘Mother, I am the pure spirit.’
- Hold your left shoulder with your right arm and turn your head towards right hand direction. Say this to your kundalini for sixteen times, ‘I am not guilty at all.’
- NOw, put your right hand on your forehead, you should start feeling lighter by now. Bow your head down and say to you Kundalini, ‘I forgive everyone including myself.’ Repeat this as per your comfort.
- Move your hand slowly towards the back of your head and say, ‘Divine Mother, please forgive me if I have committed any mistake.’
- Now, place your hand on your Crown Chakra and press it gently, move your palm in a circular motion accompanied by your skull, do it for seven times and repeat, ‘Mother, please give me self-realization.’
